It does not look that rough to me, it looks great! I have been fooling a round for a while to make a highly portable and very inexpensive micro generator and this is giving me some great ideas!

One improvement might be to use an inlet from a lower point and not the overflow. That way the pressure from the weight of the water would require less water to turn the wheel. That would also allow for normal operation during the rainy season as the overflow from the gates would not be an issue. A screened inlet pipe could be used to carry the water to a safer turbine location while retaining the pressure needed for turning the water wheel. Pipe size reduction could increase pressure as well.

@bmecher Well yeah, I meant when there’s a flood, and there’s TOO MUCH water pouring through there, maybe have an extra turbine or two to compensate for it, so that with the extra water you end up with extra power as well.

@leeknivek You have to have enough “Head” to produce power. They were not getting enoug flow and weight in the little trickles all over the place, so they concentrated it. That video is probably as much about showing the government “No we are not stealing water”, as it was about “look at the cool thing we did”
